Can I get bacterial vaginosis or stds through using a public laundry machine?

And if I can, is there a way to disinfect everything so that I don’t? I need to first know if there is a possibility or not…

If you get your clothes thoroughly dry after washing, then infection is unlikely. You can disinfect the washing machine beforehand by running it (with no clothing) on a hot water cycle, and add in three cups of bleach. There are also commercial products for disinfecting machines I’ve seen at stores.

No you can’t really get the infection this way. However if the clothes are not rinsed properly to remove the detergent then harsh chemicals left on the clothes can cause rashes and or bv. Also wearing wet clothes can create a conducive environment for the bad bacteria.

Not unless you’re doing naughty things to the machine right after someone else does naughty things to the same machine. Even then, I think it might be a longshot.

You can get flu and other viruses from touching the handles…a pocket pack of antibacterial wipes will resolve that risk…

I don’t think that bacteria related to these diseases would survive a 30-40 minute ride in a soapy and watery environment. you could just throw a little bleach in with your loads if you are worried… make sure you use color safe bleach if you are washing colors!

No. Your washing detergent will kill any bacteria or germs. If that doesn’t satisfy you use a disinfecting detergent.
