There is still much that is not yet known about bacterial vaginosis. It seems to occur when the normal vaginal flora (bacteria) is thrown out of whack. What is known is that the risk for it is increased with the introduction of a new sex partner, having multiple sex partners, frequent douching and use of IUDs. It isn’t reasonable to expect to get it just because you’ve never had sex before but there remains a possibilty. But then if, as a virgin, you douche frequently you can get it that way, too. It doesn’t necessarily have to be sex-related, understand?

Yes you can get bacterial vaginosis after any type of sexual activity. It is not technically and STD but it caused by an imbalance of the organisms (flora) that naturally exist in the vagina. So please be careful
