I have bacterial vaginosis and have heard that yoghurt can help?
I have been suffering from bv for the last month and this is my second episode. I have been prescribed antibiotics but i have also heard that yoghurt can help? Is this true and also what kind of yoghurt?

Yes, it will restore the Natural pH balance. It needs to be natural LIVE yogurt. Yogurt can be used for both BV and thrush infections.
Make sure you do not douche or use perfumed soap etc. Just wash twice daily with unscented soap and always rinse well. The problem with first line management for BV such as oral or vaginal metronidazole or even intravaginal clindamycin is that >60% of people relapse and BV occurs again very quickly.
Best advise is a Betadine VC Kit 10%. After 14 days it will sterilise the vagina. Then you’d need to try and introduce natural LIVE yoghurt into your vagina with either a tampon or syringe (without the needle!) The key is not the yogurt itself but the bacteria, lactobacillus acidophilus, in the yogurt. This helps the body maintain, or regain, its natural pH level which often alters throughout the menstrual cycle.
