Is bacterial vaginosis found through the pap smear or the testing of STDs?

I recently found out I had bacterial vaginosis and am just wondering if this was found through the STD testing or the pap smear?

Actually, a pap smear only tests for cervical cancer. Lots of women refer to a pelvic exam as a pap smear, but they are two different things. While doing a pelvic exam a doctor can do a pap smear and a test for bacteria.

Yup they find it during a PAP smear, while testing for STD’s, but just to be clear, bacterial vaginosis is NOT an STD. It’s just an infection caused by an overgrowth of bacteria normally found in your vagina. Hope I helped.
